ABOUT US
Boughton Belles Netball Club (BBNC) was formed in September 2007 due to the demand for netball clubs in Chester. Our co-founders Sue Garner and Lindsay Huddart have a combined 50 years of netball experience and worked tirelessly to create the club. When asked how they came up with the name, Sue explains:
"When I was just 18, I lost my Mum. She came from Boughton and she and her close friends were known locally as the Boughton Belles! She did so much for the young people in the area so when we were thinking of a name for our new club, it seemed a fitting tribute that her belief and commitment in helping young people would live on."
Our current Club Chair is Emma Axon who has watched the club expand enormously over the last 13 years to now have 500+ members ranging from U6’s right through to Seniors with 25+ League playing teams. We have a very hardworking committee who do so much work behind the scenes and this is all done on a volunteer basis.
The philosophy of BBNC is to provide a programme designed for beginners to advanced players, coaches, umpires and administrators who want to develop their skills and knowledge of the game whilst maintaining a sense of fun and enjoyment.
"Welcome to Boughton Belles Netball Club. It is my pleasure and privilege to be Chair of what I believe to be a fantastic club at the heart of the local community.
It has been so rewarding and an honour to watch the club develop since its establishment in 2007 and to have the opportunity to continue the hugely valuable legacy which was created by two very special people, Sue Garner and Lindsay Huddart.
I believe that netball is a game to be enjoyed by all. As a club, we pride ourselves on creating a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment for all of our members to experience netball regardless of their age and perceived ability.
Although netball is a competitive sport, we always strive to develop both the individual and the team. It is important to stress that our success is not measured by the amount of trophies we win, but by the amount of members who choose to play for us season, after season due to the sense of belonging at the club.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful groups of people who give their valuable time and effort to make this club the very special place it is today: Committee, Coaches, Umpires, Teams Managers, Players, Parents/Carers.
Finally, I would like to wish all of our teams every success during the season, and I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities ahead."
